Its primary mission is the defense of viticulture from his production by ensuring the quality and promotion of their wines. It was founded in 1973 and accommodates a total of 182 municipalities: 12 in the province of Albacete, 58 in Ciudad Real, Cuenca 66 and 46 in Toledo.
In 2007, in compliance with the Law of Vine and Wine of Castilla-La Mancha, the Regulatory Council becomes AIC, forming part of different agricultural, industrial and cooperative associations. And coincidences of fate, the same year won the Regulatory Council Food Award Spain to Food Promotion, which was handed to the president of the Control Board by the then Agriculture Minister Elena Espinosa.
