PART OF THE EU-FUNDED EUROPEAN WINE AMBASSADORS PROGRAMME AIMED AT PROMOTING QUALITY WINES TO ASIAN PROFESSIONAL AUDIENCES

Taipei (Taiwan) was the last stop on the intense tour of Asian seminars held by La Mancha Designation of Origin in May this year. The seminars were part of the EU-funded European Wine Ambassadors programme, which provides training and guidance for Asian professional audiences (importers, distributors, media, etc.) in partnership with Wines of Greece and the Union of Veneto DOC and DOCG Wines (UVIVE).

Growth opportunity

The intention of this Asian market promotion is to open up the market in third countries as an alternative to declining demand across the Chinese market. This view was also shared by the sommeliers who gave presentations at the different seminars. In Taiwan or South Korea, gastronomic tradition can be a good partner for La Mancha wines, whilst in Singapore, ‘master of wine’ expert Annette Scarfe highlighted the potential of the country’s market as part of an economically stable society in which there is a lively interest in consuming wine.
