The fair was held from 16 to 18 March in Düsseldorf, Germany
The Regulatory Board continues with its external promotion on European Community soil and, as usual every March, attendance at Prowein 2025 was completed satisfactorily. This is an unmissable event for the German market and its influence in the central European context. In the words of Luis Martínez, Head of Department at La Mancha Designation of Origin, “although we haven’t seen a return to pre-pandemic levels and with other European fairs like Wine Paris-Vinexpo gaining more ground, it’s fair to say that Prowein 2025 is still a reference worldwide”.
This, as the fair organisers argue, is “not the result of chance”, as the main wine-producing regions of the world have continued to come together here for more than 29 years.
Presence on the Castilla-La Mancha stand
Participation in Prowein 2025 was made possible by sharing the IPEX Castilla-La Mancha stand alongside other Designations of Origin. The stand featured a tasting tunnel where 35 wines from 16 exhibiting wineries were tasted.
In Luis Martínez’s view, the experience was a very interesting one for visitors, who had the opportunity to appreciate and familiarise themselves with both young Tempranillo reds, highly appreciated by the German palate, and Airén whites, “a variety that’s not yet widely known but with great potential in the current worldwide demand for white wine”.
Prowein 2025 closes its doors having become “a journey of discovery through the world of wines and spirits, but also a journey of learning and development for all of us who work in the specialist trade”.
As part of a busy programme of master classes and talks, the ProWein Forum for wines and the ProSpirits Forum for spirits, as well as eight thematic worlds reflecting the latest industry trends, La Mancha wines were presented on the world stage with a talk given by journalist Claudia Stern, who emphasised the high quality of wines made in the Castilla-La Mancha region.
