As expected, 2011 has been a great year for La Mancha wine exports, up 11% from the previous year, reaching 61.5 million bottles.  The main factor behind this significant increase is the spectacular growth from countries outside the EU such China, Russia or even the highly competitive market of U.S.A..


During 2010, D.O. La Mancha has invested 400,000€ (530,000$) in a promotional campaign in China, considering this market as a focal point in his international strategy. The market has responded embracing their value for money wines and pushing sales from 102,000 to 156,000 12-bottle cases. On the other hand, Russian wine imports has rocketed 316% from 27,000 cases in 2010 to 115,000 cases in 2011.


Inside the EU, from 2010 to 2011, Holland has imported 122% more wines from La Mancha continuing last year’s trend. However, Germany still is the main importer of wines from La Mancha in Europe with 437,000 cases, up 22% from the previous year.


Finally, according to D.O. La Mancha Control Board statistics, there was a 16% growth of wine exports to U.S.A. market with a total of 83,000 cases
